Not gonna fall
Posted in Uncategorized on October 5th, 2010 by hannah – 1 CommentRight. For two years now I’ve been sitting and thinking what I want this blog to be about. And I’m not here to tell you that I’m even an inch closer to reaching an answer.
There’s one thing I’ve decided, though (and this occurred to me in the shower, which is proof that it must be a good idea. All good ideas come to us when immersed in certain liquids… be it booze, piss, or plain water): This blog is going to be in English.
There, I said it. I’ll say some more: I don’t care that it isn’t my native tongue – I’m not here to kiss, I’m here to write. I don’t care that my readers might not understand – this blog hasn’t got any readers, anyways. I don’t care if my writing is not all PG-13, not even if a potential employer reads this. You’re all grown people, I expect you to be aware that people have a life outside work.
For too long I have been thinking about the whole ‘theory’ of blogging and social media – that you’re supposed to find a topic, harp on about it, that you must ‘build your brand’ and yet remain ‘authentic’ and finally, finally that you never ever ought to forget that your readers expectations must be fulfilled.
The thing is, though: I am eclectic. I don’t have a special interest. I have hundreds.
And I don’t want to confine myself by taking into consideration this anonymous mystical creature a.k.a. the reader. There are enough things that we’re told need consideration all the time, every time. I, however, can do what I fucking want. Well, on here, that is.
And this is because I assume I don’t have any readers. Not worrying about you anymore sets me free to once again write about whatever I want in whatever language I wish (and speak). Right now, this happens to be English.
So, is the sky gonna fall now, or what?
